The Sherlock Holmes I viewed was the 2009 remake of the origional, created by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. The film was directed by Guy Ritchie and produced by Joel Silver. The film was distributed by Warner Bros. pictures.
Sherlock Holmes is one of the most recognized fiction detectives and i'm very sure that most people have heard of him and if they have'nt, they don't know what their missing! The main characters are Robert Downey Jr. (Holmes) and Jude Law ( Dr. Watson). So they are very talented and well known actors. But can they show that talent in this movie? This is my verdict..
The film is set in 1891, when Sherlock and his companion Dr. Watson stop Lord Blackwood (Mark Strong), in completing his human sacrifice- the sixth girl to be sacrificed, the previous five, Lord Blackwood has succeeded in killing. Blackwood if found guilty by the court on the offence of using black arts and is therefore sentenced to be hanged. Just before his death, he warns Holmes about other deaths that will eventually change the world. Blackwood is then executed and Dr. Watson pronounces him dead. However, days later is seenwalking away from his grave. When the burial chamber was cracked open, there was no vody to be seen. So where is Blackwood? How is it possible that he is declared dead and then comes back to life? The main question is can Holmes and Watson determine what Blackwood meant about changing their world?
I give Sherlock Holmes 4*. There was a good choice of actors and is an excellent takw on the origional. I would definatly recommend this film to anyone. However it is easy to get confused along the way! But what do you think?
